La edición estadounidense de la revista Squire realizó un conteo sobre los "75 discos que todo hombre debe tener". En la lista se encuentran trabajos que van desde el rock punk de Iggy Pop, el sonido motown de Marvin Gaye, el estilo inconfundible de Bruce Springsteen o hasta la música clásica de Beethoven.
Entre la larga lista figuran títulos interesantes como Aftermath de los Rolling Stones, que incluye la mítica canción "Paint It Black", grabada cuando sus "Satánicas majestades" apenas eran unos jóvenes.

El primer disco de Led Zeppelin es recomendado por su fuerza, así como The Bends de Radiohead. En la lista también aparece el aclamado álbum, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars que muestra a un David Bowie conceptual, pero profundo en su creación.

El Rubber Soul de los Beatles también es imprescindible porque marcaba el desarrollo en la composición que estaban viviendo los "Genios de Liverpool".
